Tiling Bathrooms
The right bathroom tile design for a remodeling project can completely change the whole appearance of your tired looking bathroom; a huge choice does not mean it is any easier to choose one that is right for your bathroom. Cost is always an issue, but there are many designs available and at all price ranges. Whilst contemporary styles like the harlequin design, marble and natural stone tile designs are always desirable, it is the colorful designs that are often more affordable and as a result, fast becoming popular themselves.
If you don’t know what the harlequin bathroom tile looks like; imagine a white tile that has smaller black diamond shapes in a grid like pattern imprinted on them and you have the harlequin style. Often these tiles are oblong shaped and seem to resemble the costume of a mime if you can recall what that looks like.
I personally like a harlequin bathroom design in black and white as the diamond shape of the pattern really yields well to the stark contrast of the extreme colors. A bathroom will look clean and shiny, and by adding a chrome tub and shower faucet to the mix will give the area a fresh, shimmering glow which is ideal for the bath area.
Although this gives a stunning effect, chrome is renowned for leaving fingerprints so may require daily cleaning. It is important to consider how much time you have to commit to polishing your bathroom before making a purchase.
Despite the color choices it is the traditional black on white that provides the best finish and is usually the easiest to buy without having to place a special order. Marble has always been a more expensive bathroom tile design option but has a timeless quality which the more modern tiles will never match.
A good compromise when funds will not extend to expensive tiles is to have a good bathroom tile that is reasonably priced as the foundation for your bathroom tile design. It is then just a matter of finding a design that will complement what you have already chosen to create a new pattern and then it doesn’t matter if the new tiles cost more as you won’t be using them as much.
No matter what design you choose you probably want to consider investing in a professional for installation. I know that you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself but you may find that you waste more time and material if you are not familiar with the process. Bringing your bathroom remodeling project to life is not a job for a novice..
