Tiling Bathrooms
The right bathroom tile design can turn a regular old bathroom into a spa-like retreat when you carry out your remodeling project; an idea of what style you are looking for before you choose will always save some time. Cost is always an issue, but there are many designs available and at all price ranges. Of course there are favorites and four tile designs spring to mind, the famous harlequin style, marble, stone and the more contemporary colored tiles.
My timeless favorite is the harlequin bathroom tile which are small black squares turned to look like diamonds in a grid pattern on a plain white tile. Often these tiles are oblong shaped and seem to resemble the costume of a mime if you can recall what that looks like.
I personally like a harlequin bathroom design in black and white as the diamond shape of the pattern really yields well to the stark contrast of the extreme colors. Whilst the style will go with many bath types and polished fixings, it is when they are used in combination with a traditional bath tub that the best effect is seen.
Some people are not too crazy about all of that shimmer and shine because fingerprints and water marks can be real issues when using such materials on a daily basis. This is something particularly relevant if you have young children, so may not be the best style for you.
Despite the color choices it is the traditional black on white that provides the best finish and is usually the easiest to buy without having to place a special order. When money isn’t an option there is always Italian marble as a choice for your bathroom tile design. This can also be used for surrounds in addition to the wall and floor plus comes in an enormous range of finishes.
A good compromise when funds will not extend to expensive tiles is to have a good bathroom tile that is reasonably priced as the foundation for your bathroom tile design. Add a little character and spark with more expensive tiles here and there and you get a rich look at a fraction of the cost.
Whilst tiling isn’t overly complicated, it is still an art which you would do well to remember and organize a tradesman to come in to do it for you. I know that you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself but you may find that you waste more time and material if you are not familiar with the process.
