Bathroom Decoration

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Many of us spend more time in the bathroom today than we used to, but the decoration of this room plays an important part in this; why shouldn’t people have a pleasant bathroom to relax in. Think about it, we all spend a good bit of time washing and freshening up every day, so why not use a few bathroom decoration ideas to spice this room up a bit and make it a more appealing place to hang out. After the bedroom, the bathroom can be one of the most relaxing places in your home so why shouldn’t it be more comfortable and pleasant to the eye.

It is often a good showing point for your ideas when your friends come around to see how you have used your bathroom decorating ideas. This will prove you take pride in your home. The kitchen used to be another place that wasn’t a high priority but all that has changed as the average family spends more time there so why not the bathroom as well.

Of course, many of the bathroom decorating ideas that you use can be drawn from the things that you do with the rest of the house. In this instance, you may have a home that has many small tables placed around it with plants on them, well, why not extend this very simple idea to your bathroom. This can be equally effective, and more relaxing, if you place plants on them and will look perfectly in place as they are seen elsewhere in the house.

Similarly, you can apply your ideas to the rest of your house if you haven’t already decided on a theme. Wall and floor tile are a prime example of this transfer of decorating ideas which can be seen in many homes.

This can give the home a feel of continuity without making every room feel the same and there are also cost benefits to this as you can spruce up a tired looking room with a few simple techniques that won’t cost the earth. Bathroom decorating ideas are not all about tiles on the walls and floor, there are many other ideas which can be used successfully in every room.

Beside the tiles, there are many creative things that you can do with the soap and the soap trays. Many guides to bathroom decoration suggest that you make your own soap trays.

One uncommon design for a soap tray was to make it by hand out of clay, which you must admit is quite novel. Of course, another great idea is to put something relaxing opposite the bath, such as a picture of a boat floating on a quiet lake. Whatever you do, don’t allow the bathroom to become bland when it has so much potential to please the eye.

Kitchen Remodel

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Having the kitchen of your dreams is possible but you will have to be prepared to learn some facts from this article. many people don’t even consider it a worthwhile project because the cost may be too great. It is true to say that most things we would like depend on whether we can afford them and kitchen remodeling costs can be high so need to be looked at in advance. Most of us can even picture our dream kitchen with a centre work area with all the appliances at the right level and marble worktops everywhere, but we know what we end up with will not have all these things.

Unless you are wealthy, most people face the similar problem of dealing with lowering the cost involved but this does not mean you cannot have this room close to the way you want it. Careful planning is the key here and could provide the answer to having that Kitchen you have set your heart on.

A costly area but one where you may be able to save some of the expense is labor and hiring professionals to work on the project. Try not to waste time planning all the changes you want to make until you have a realistic estimate of the kitchen remodeling costs involved especially when you participate in the work.

Only you will know just how proficient you are at jobs around the home, but if this is an area that you are not even slightly competent in, then the information here is not for you. It is all too easy to get caught up in the moment and make promises you cannot keep, and then you will have no alternative but to hire a professional kitchen fitter to continue the work at greater expense.

The easiest way to save money on your kitchen remodeling costs is to bypass the middle-man and deal with suppliers directly. Of course this does not include buying used equipment or quality second hand which often comes onto the market.

This is where taking your time pays off; don’t be in a rush to locate your kitchen equipment as you may be surprised just what’s available in your local area. Old kitchens cost money to dispose of and suppliers are often happy to sell them, especially when they know the person is eager to keep their kitchen remodeling costs to a minimum.

One of the best things about getting this secondhand equipment is that it might allow you to create a kitchen you would only have dreamt of before. The only factor you need to consider that will make your kitchen remodeling dream a reality is which jobs you’re able to complete yourself and those where you will need a professional tradesman.

Techflow QT80se Shower Pump

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

Techflow QT80se Shower Pump

“The QT80 is designed for pumping hot or cold water in a medium sized house where a moderate increase in pressure is required. The QT Range are centrifugal pumps that have been designed to provide smooth power with minimal noise. The superior design of the Techflow QT Shower Pumps allows them to handle hot water at higher temperatures without the problem of cavitation (i.e. aeration of the water causing spasmodic loss of pressure at the shower head). Techflow QT Shower Pumps can operate with the hot water temperature at 70°c, or 65°c where pump is installed above the hot water cylinder. The QT single ended pumps come in three sizes from 1.2 bar to 3.3bar and have a 3 year guarantee. Negative Head Switching A Negative Head situation exists where the pumped outlet (e.g. shower-head) is in a position that is level with or higher than the base of the cold water storage tank (eg in a loft conversion). Since conventional pumps require some gravity flow to activate the pump switching mechanism, they cannot start under these circumstances and will require some form of external switching to initiate start-up. Techflow offers various solutions for achieving this. AS (Automatic Switching) A fully automated system which senses pressure drop when a tap or shower valve is opened. The unique system ensures that both hot and cold outlets can be operated independently using a single switching unit. MSA (Manual Switching Airswitch) Operates via flush-mounted push-button airswitch, operated once the shower valve/tap is open. Supplied with 5 metres of airline, pre-assembled. Extensions kits available. MSP (Manual Switch Pull-Cord) Similar in function to the MSA, but operates via a pull-cord switch, necessitating only minimal disruption to the bathroom environment. • Dimensions 305 x 220 x 130mm • Ideal for installing between a non-restrictive shower valve and shower outlet to pump blended water to a single or two function handset. • 2.3bar • To boost performance to more restrictive shower systems or provide enhanced performance to low restriction systems. Can be used with multi-function shower heads with pulse mode”

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Making your dream kitchen become a viable project just requires a little thought; most homeowners are naturally worried about the financial aspect of this type of project. Kitchen remodeling costs are always likely to be an obstacle to getting the dream kitchen you have always wanted. A fully equipped kitchen with that old world feel using lots of real wood and marble and effective use of lighting with masses of storage space may be something that stays a dream.

We are all faced with having to carry out work on a budget but this is no reason why you can’t have something reasonably close to what you would ideally like. So if you plan it carefully, the cost should only be a minor obstacle to you achieving the kitchen style you really want.

A costly area but one where you may be able to save some of the expense is labor and hiring professionals to work on the project. Try not to waste time planning all the changes you want to make until you have a realistic estimate of the kitchen remodeling costs involved especially when you participate in the work.

This is where knowledge of your abilities comes in so if you are someone who is quite handy around the house then you shouldn’t have a problem. Whilst it may look very good on paper, if you are not able to do this but try anyway, the chances are you will have to pay a kitchen fitter to rectify your mistakes before they can complete the work.

The easiest way to save money on your kitchen remodeling costs is to bypass the middle-man and deal with suppliers directly. It is even possible to buy kitchen equipment second hand or partly used which can actually save you a small fortune and often there can even be some guarantee left on it.

This is where taking your time pays off; don’t be in a rush to locate your kitchen equipment as you may be surprised just what’s available in your local area. Increasingly, suppliers are offering secondhand equipment to keep down kitchen remodeling costs because the environmental as well as the economic advantages of using secondhand equipment is obvious.

Carefully acquiring your materials and appliances this way could mean that the kitchen you dreamt of is achievable, with nearly new or hardly used equipment. The only thing that is really stopping you having your kitchen remodeled is whether you can carry out the work yourself!

Kitchen Remodel

Having the kitchen of your dreams is possible but you will have to be prepared to learn some facts from this article. most homeowners are naturally worried about the financial aspect of this type of project. Kitchen remodeling costs are always likely to be an obstacle to getting the dream kitchen you have always wanted. Most of us can even picture our dream kitchen with a centre work area with all the appliances at the right level and marble worktops everywhere, but we know what we end up with will not have all these things.

However, if you are willing to make a few compromises and a little research then there is no reason why you can’t get close to what you desire. The best way to achieve your remodeling dream is to plan carefully looking at each stage to assess where money can be saved, and who knows, your ideal kitchen could be more of a reality than you thought.

A costly area but one where you may be able to save some of the expense is labor and hiring professionals to work on the project. One of the ways to keep your kitchen remodeling costs in check is to plan the project well in advance and wherever possible do as much work yourself.

It should also go without saying that you need to be comfortable using tools and not afraid to get your hands dirty because if you aren’t then the chances of you completing this project are small. Whilst it may look very good on paper, if you are not able to do this but try anyway, the chances are you will have to pay a kitchen fitter to rectify your mistakes before they can complete the work.

After the labor expense, the other area where you can reduce your kitchen remodeling costs and save money is with the materials and appliances; by dealing direct. Many of us think nothing of buying a used car so why not try for a used kitchen, after all, some of them are hardly ever used.

You can do this by looking around locally or placing an advert in the local paper, even speaking to all the local kitchen companies; as they say, nothing venture, nothing gained. Old kitchens cost money to dispose of and suppliers are often happy to sell them, especially when they know the person is eager to keep their kitchen remodeling costs to a minimum.

Each time you save a little money this way, your overall costs come down and your ideal kitchen gets a step closer! The only factor you need to consider that will make your kitchen remodeling dream a reality is which jobs you’re able to complete yourself and those where you will need a professional tradesman.

Tiling Bathrooms

Friday, May 16th, 2008

The right bathroom tile design for a remodeling project can completely change the whole appearance of your tired looking bathroom; a huge choice does not mean it is any easier to choose one that is right for your bathroom. Cost is always an issue, but there are many designs available and at all price ranges. Whilst contemporary styles like the harlequin design, marble and natural stone tile designs are always desirable, it is the colorful designs that are often more affordable and as a result, fast becoming popular themselves.

If you don’t know what the harlequin bathroom tile looks like; imagine a white tile that has smaller black diamond shapes in a grid like pattern imprinted on them and you have the harlequin style. Often these tiles are oblong shaped and seem to resemble the costume of a mime if you can recall what that looks like.

I personally like a harlequin bathroom design in black and white as the diamond shape of the pattern really yields well to the stark contrast of the extreme colors. A bathroom will look clean and shiny, and by adding a chrome tub and shower faucet to the mix will give the area a fresh, shimmering glow which is ideal for the bath area.

Although this gives a stunning effect, chrome is renowned for leaving fingerprints so may require daily cleaning. It is important to consider how much time you have to commit to polishing your bathroom before making a purchase.

Despite the color choices it is the traditional black on white that provides the best finish and is usually the easiest to buy without having to place a special order. Marble has always been a more expensive bathroom tile design option but has a timeless quality which the more modern tiles will never match.

A good compromise when funds will not extend to expensive tiles is to have a good bathroom tile that is reasonably priced as the foundation for your bathroom tile design. It is then just a matter of finding a design that will complement what you have already chosen to create a new pattern and then it doesn’t matter if the new tiles cost more as you won’t be using them as much.

No matter what design you choose you probably want to consider investing in a professional for installation. I know that you can save a lot of money by doing it yourself but you may find that you waste more time and material if you are not familiar with the process. Bringing your bathroom remodeling project to life is not a job for a novice..
